IMPORTANT: Before we get started, find a grown-up to help. Scissors are needed for this experiment and you may need someone to help assist you.

Things you will need:  - some colourful straws

                                        - a sheet of paper

                                        - sticky tape

                                        - scissors (get an adult to help you use these!)

                                        - a rocket cut out from the template below

                                        - decorations to make your rocket look cool!

Download and print this template so you can cut out and decorate your own rocket.

LET'S GET STARTED

Step 1: Print off the template above and cut out one of the rockets.

If you're feeling artistic, try drawing your own!

Step 2: Colour in and decorate your rocket however you like.

Here are some examples of rockets we made to give you

               some inspiration!

Step 3: Once you have your rocket nicely decorated, cut out a small square of paper about 6x6cm. Remember to get an adult to help with this part.

Roll the piece of paper into a straw shape and tape it so that it is secure. Make sure that you haven't rolled it too tight, it needs to be able to fit on top of the straw!

After you have rolled it, fold over the top part of it and tape it secure. This part is a little fiddly, so you might want to get someone to help.

Step 4: Tape your rolled up paper onto the back of the rocket you decorated. Make sure its stuck on well or it might fall off!

Step 5: You're now ready for lift off! Place your straw into the white tube, point your rocket upwards, and then blow! Watch as your rocket shoots into the air.

Tip: Try not to push the straw too far into the white tube as it might not shoot off as well.

Extra: Why not have a race? Make some with your friends and see who can make their rocket go the furthest!
